A crazed gunman has barricaded himself inside a New York City building. Police are on the scene and have shut down 22nd Street near the Flatiron building. The NYPD has confirmed that a man with a gun has locked himself in an apartment near the Flatiron building. Officers have responded.

As Reported By WNYC:

A person barricaded himself inside an apartment near the Flatiron building after contractors working on windows at the location called police because they were being “menaced” by a tenant who may have a gun, police said.

An employee at Argo Tea Cafe across the street from the Flatiron Building told WNYC that police asked her to evacuate customers from the eatery earlier this afternoon and then ordered the cafe’s employees to stay in the back room.

Police have now confirmed that they have the suspect in custody, there were no injuries, and no shots were fired.
