Michele Bachmann, the Republican Representative from Minnesota, announced that she has filed papers and will be throwing her hat in the ring for the Presidential race for 2012, thus declaring her formal candidacy.

According to Bachmann, “We’re going to win and make no mistake about it. President Obama is a one-term President.” Those sound like fighting words.

STORY: Michele Bachmann Going For Obama’s Spot

Bachmann became a notable figure in the political arena back in 2008 when a month before the 2008 election, she said on MSNBC that then-candidate Barack Obama “may have anti-American views.”

Even back then, Bachmann had a knack for ruffling the feathers of her base while at the same time charging them up for a revolution against Obama. Thanks to Bachmann, America was introduced to the The Tea Party. Bachmann, in July 2010, established the Congressional Tea Party Caucus, which she is the founder of.

These are just a couple of tidbits that are known about the Minnesota Rep, take a look at some others we found.

The Peanut Farmer:

Bachmann graduated from Winona State University in Minnesota in 1978 and went to work for the Peanut Farmer, Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaign. What’s interesting is after Carter was elected, Bachmann switched sides and became a Republican.

The Young Gun:

At 55, Bachmann is one the youngest candidates running for President. The oldest is former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.

The Lawyer:

Bachmann has a law degree from Tulsa’s Oral Roberts University and a Master of Law degree in tax law from the College of William and Mary. Who knew Bachmann could have defended Wesley Snipes?

The Tea Party Queen:

In July 2010, Bachmann founded the Congressional Tea Party Caucus. She teamed up with Sarah Palin to support the movement during the midterms. Being the Queen of the Tea Partiers, Bachmann was able to thrust the movement into the mainstream and has become one of their most outspoken voices.

The Sh*t Talker:

In 2008, right before the Presidential election, Bachmann went on MSNBC and said that then-candidate Barack Obama “may have anti-American views.” That one comment began the decisive rhetoric that we see today, not only did it make Bachmann a star in the Republican party, but gave birth to the birther movement and every other anti-Obama campaign.

Obama Created The Swine Flu, What?!?:

In an interview with Pajamas Media, Bachmann said, “I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it’s an interesting coincidence.” Get it right Bachmann, the 1976 swine flu outbreak occurred during Gerald Ford’s presidency.

Mo Money, Mo Problems:

Michele Bachmann wants to make tax cuts for the rich permanent. As part of Bachmann’s “ten-point economic fix-it” plan, she listed one of the main points, “Make all the Bush tax cuts permanent.”

It’s safe to say the Octomom has nothing on Bachmann. Bachmann and her husband, Marcus Bachmann, own a Christian counseling practice in Minnesota and have five children, they have also have 23 foster children!
