The community of Brunswick, Georgia has come together to find the attackers responsible for shooting a mother and her 13-month-old baby boy. Police have reportedly received more than 30 leads from “concerned citizens” and are working hard to filter the information.

Sherry West told authorities that she was pushing her son in a stroller when she was approached by two boys who demanded money.

“He said, ‘I’m gonna kill you if you don’t give me your money’ and I said, ‘I swear, I don’t have any,” West said. “I put my arms over my baby and he shoves me and he shot my baby right in the head.”

West was shot in the leg. The baby did not survive the shooting.

West described the shooters as two boys, one between the ages of 13 and 15 and the other as young as 10-years-old. The two fled on foot into a residential neighborhood 30 miles north of Florida.

Todd Rhodes, a spokesman for the Brunswick Police Department said, “It’s a nice area, it’s a clean area, it’s an area where law-abiding citizens not only live, they also work and play. Much like every other city in these US, from time to time we will have a glitch.”

Rumors are consuming the streets of Brunswick, but there have been no reports of a weapon found nor have any arrests been made. Investigators could not clarify a motive at this time, but have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading up to the arrest of the murderer.

Our condolences to the West family. We pray that the shooters will be apprehended to the furthest extent of the law.
