Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee On The Constitution, Civil Rights And Human Rights on ending racial profiling in America.

STORY: Out With The Old! New Judges Revealed In Trayvon Martin Case!

Ellison gave a compelling and inspirational speech urging congress to pass an End to Racial Profiling Act in light of the recent shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

Trayvon’s case has put a spotlight on racial profiling and the role it plays in America, and the hearing was intended to explore how profiling harms law enforcement and to examine the different forms of racial profiling.

Racial profiling isn’t only about black and white, it also includes immigration laws such as those in Alabama and Arizona that subject Hispanic Americans to heightened scrutiny; discriminatory law enforcement against African Americans; and anti-terrorism efforts that target American Muslims.

The Act, which is co-sponsored by Ellison, seeks to eliminate racial profiling by changing the policies and procedures underlying the practice.
