Soulja Boy was arrested this morning for weed.
According to our friends at TMZ:
The 21-year-old rapper — real name DeAndre Cortez Way — was popped early this morning by Temple Police Department officers in Temple, GA at 3:15 AM.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Soulja was in a car with 4 other men, which was originally pulled over for a traffic violation.
We’re told … during the stop, cops found a “substantial amount” of marijuana and cash inside the vehicle.” Soulja and the 4 other men were all arrested. Soulja is still being held in Carrol County Jail.
It’s also being reported that the rapper had guns in the car as well, although there is no word on if they had license for the guns.

The weed and the gun discovered during Soulja Boy’s arrest this morning were inside a briefcase … which allegedly belongs to the rapper … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Soulja Boy was with three bodyguards when their vehicle was stopped by officers in Temple, Ga., at 3:15 a.m. All five men in the Cadillac Escalade, including the driver, were arrested, and police are investigating whether any of the men had licenses to be in possession of the firearms, reports TMZ.
The four men are being held in Carrol County Jail on felony charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm, police spokeswoman Dana Rampy told Reuters. She also added that a puppy found in the car was released to the driver’s relatives.

In case you weren’t aware — the documentary “Soulja Boy: The Movie” is being released on DVD today, and the rapper was supposed to spend the day pushing the movie during plastic-smile interviews with various media outlets.
Problem is … Soulja’s still locked up in a Georgia jail on marijuana possession charges … and we’re told, his PR team is going haywire trying to figure out a new marketing strategy on the fly.
But their work may already be done … because truth is, Soulja’s movie wouldn’t have gotten a fraction of the attention it did today if he wasn’t sitting in a jail cell … with his mug shot plastered all over the Internet.
