GlobalGrind was paid a visit by the inimitable Amber Rose and the Philly native schooled us on all things Amber, Philly, her favorite designers and the folks who inspire her.
When she burst onto the scene and into our consciousness nearly four years ago, style watchers were intrigued by this bright, ex-stripper from Philly with curves galore, a baby face, Caesar haircut and all the possibilities she represented.
Amber was new, she was fresh, she was dope! And guess what? She still is!

Dressed down (for her) in jeans and t-shirt, the budding hip-hop icon and Ford model, who recently wrapped up her first film role (she tweeted a photo of herself in costume holding a rifle on the set of Gang of Roses 2: Next Generation) and let us into her world, revealing things you will only read here.
We kicked the conversation off by talking about one of Amber’s (and her admirers) favorite subjects: fashion and design. Here’s some of what was said by the Millions of Milkshakes maker and eye wear designer.
GlobalGrind: You really have a passion for design yourself?
In fact! I’ve been looking and meeting with lots of people because I really want to express myself creatively in a design space. I really feel I have a gift and I’m offering it to people.
Why do you feel that fashion is your expression?
Because everybody always wants to know what I put on. I find so many people walk up to me and ask me what I’m wearing because it’s always unique the way I put my shit together.
Even before you became famous?
Even before! It’s not because I became famous, it’s because I have a good sense of fashion and I put my things together is even more unique than the pieces I chose. It’s the way I mix and match. It’s something I enjoy doing. I take great pride in it and I want to express it. I want to throw a company around it.
It’s true, you have a great sense of style.
I know it’s true! A lot of people see me and their first impression is I’m just blonde, and sexy. What they don’t know is that I’m smart; it takes away all of the edge. I’m creative and I’m going to express myself.
What’s the name of the company?
We don’t know yet, but I really want my own line. People believe that celebrities attach their name to shit and it flies off in the wind. I always put in the work and I want to put in the work. I’m very passionate about fashion and I think that it’s a place where I can really express myself. I’m not going to rest until I deliver.
