James Franco seems to always be working, however his latest project is a little out of the norm, even for him.

The Pineapple Express actor has teamed up with Italian cutlery label LATAMA to make a limited edition switchblade dedicated to his late friend actor Brad Renfro, who passed away from a heroin overdose in 2008.

The switchblade, which reads “Brad Renfro” on the handle and “Forever” on the actual blade, is no flimsy novelty item either. When fully opened, the knife measures 11 inches. It has a Swivel Bolster and Black & White Brazilian Horn Handle. The blades will each be numbered at the factory in Italy and then laser-etched and hand painted by Moon Editions in San Francisco.

The inscription on the blade coincides with a video that Franco made called “Brad Renfo Forever” for his art project “Rebel.” The exhibit, which was sponsored by Gucci and 7 For All Mankind, is a “meditation on James Dean” based on the film Rebel Without a Cause.
The $850 blade will be on sale at the exhibit, but for now you can purchase the blade on LATAMA’s online store.  Peep a few detailed pictures of the James Franco x LATAMA switchblade in the gallery above.
