Denim is one staple wardrobe item that has withstood the strength of fashion evolution. You may have a pair that you have been rockin’ with since your high school days, but we guarantee that you don’t have a pair that dates back to the 1800’s — but Levi’s does.
The denim company unveiled what they are calling the world’s oldest jeans. One of the jeans, named Vevada, dates back to 1880 and the second pair XX, dates back to 1879, you know, back when jeans were called dungarees. The one-pocket XX jeans date back to 1879 and are valued at $125,000.

The event, which was held in Sydney Australia, was orchestrated to be a “hip history session” featuring a graffiti artist creating artwork, denim hanging around and Polaroid cameras at hand for the guests to capture their moments with the denim.
The pants were flown in under government level security, you know to avoid any Marc Jacobs-esqe clothing heists that are all to common as of late, and Levi’s ‘Queen of the Archives’ Lynn Downey carefully handled the precious denim with gloved hands.
The jeans mirror the modern-day cut that Levi’s is famous for, but most of the elements of the pants have remained true since the 1880s.
