After languishing offline for almost one month, the PlayStation Network is finally back in business. Ditto Sony’s Qriocity music service. Well, almost.

Yes, millions of users in the United States and Europe were able to sign onto the network yesterday. However, users in Asia are still in the dark.

Sony also reenabled the playback of already rented video, “Music Unlimited” online audio streaming, access to third-party services like Netflix and Hulu, PlayStation Home and friends features such as chat. Full service is expected to resume by the end of May in these markets, according to PC World.

The PlayStation Network was attacked on April 19th by a splinter cell within the hacker group Anonymous or a greater unknown foe, Sony’s PlayStation Network revealed two weeks into the outage.

When service was restored this weekend, casual and serious gamers had to change their passwords and update their PS3’s software before signing back on. When that was complete, access to online only games were still problematic, leaving favorite games like DC Universe Online unplayable.

“The first phase in the U.S. and Europe went well,” said Satoshi Fukuoka, a spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo. “Users are able to access the service. There have been no major problems.”
