An announcement by Marvel Comics was made today that this week’s version of Ultimate Comics Fallout #4 will feature a new Spider-Man.
His name is Miles Morales and he is a half-Black and half-Hispanic teenager who is driven by Peter Parker’s recent death at the hands of the Green Goblin.
Peter Parker fans need not worry! The Spider-Man that we have known for years is still going strong in Marvel’s main line of comics.
This new Spider-Man is only part of the Ultimates series, but it remains to be seen if a new face to the series will catch on.

Head writer Brian Michael Bendis talked about the differences between new and old Spider-Man and said, “He’s younger than Peter Parker, he’s coming from a completely different background, a completely different world view.”
Editor-in-chief Alex Alonso said that, “This was a conscious decision. Here at Marvel, we pride ourselves on reflecting the real world in all its diversity.”
We applaud Marvel for trying something new and not shying away from a potentially controversial idea and who knows, Miles Morales may be the next Peter Parker.
