Well, if you are in London, you can head over to E1. If you are in Chicago, you can see a free movie and learn about Janelle Monae. If you are online, you can download some music.
Rough Trade are stores in the UK where you can pop in and see a free performance of an up-and-coming or established band.
Gigs happen early in the evening (usually 7pm) and admission is free, by previously obtained wrist band.
Sets are shorter than a regular gig and there can be long lines for bigger named acts, but then, who wouldn’t queue to see free sets from the diverse likes of Marianne Faithful, Vampire Weekend and Fucked Up?
