What will be the fate of the four U.S. Marine soldiers who filmed themselves urinating on the dead bodies of Taliban Afghan soldiers? Dishonorable discharge and court martial, a short stint in federal prison, or loss of military benefits?

STORY: Inhumane! U.S. Marines Urinating On Dead Afghan Soldiers

What should the outcome be for such an offense?

Either way you cut it, a swift punishment is headed their way. It’s as if Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal in 2004 never happened.

STORY: CHARGED! Marines Caught On Video Urinating On Dead Afghan Soldiers ID’d

We honor our soldiers every day because they are fighting for us, but when something like this happens it stains the reputation of the entire military.

This is a clear case of the actions of few destroying the memories of many.

It’s not enough that they videotaped their enemy’s dead corpses, but to relieve themselves on their bodies is just inhumane.

Now many would drum this up to soldiers being soldiers, but where is the basic human decency? Do you lose something like that when you’re at war?

I’ve never been to war and hope that I’ll never be in one, but I know once a battle has ended, whether it be a fire fight shoot-out or heavy combat, the last thing I want to do is relieve myself on my enemies. Once your enemy is dead, the fight is over. There’s no need for anything more.

The only thing those Marines got out of their stunt was a few laughs and the satisfaction of telling people they pissed on the bodies of the Taliban. If someone told me they did something like that, I’ll ask them, was that necessary?

There’s no redeeming value to doing what they did, you can’t embarrass a dead corpse. The scariest part is, who knows what other videos these Marines took or what other deplorable actions they partook in that weren’t filmed on video?

As we peel back the layers of this developing story, more will come out and I’m sure more tapes will emerge, if not now, then in the future.
