I was a little surprised when I heard that Chris Brown was going to be collaborating with Rihanna. I thought to myself, “I understand you are over it and want to be cordial, but after all of that, you still want to make songs together?”

Even though I think many people have gotten over the incident from three years ago, myself included, some out there still associate Chris Brown with violence and remember in great detail what happened to the “We Found Love” songstress.
Just to recap, Rihanna became friendly with Chris in 2007, and was seen by his side at various events. By the end of 2008, the two were spending the holidays with Chris’s family and appeared to be more serious.
In February 2009, things took a turn for the worse. Rihanna was arguing with Chris while he was driving his car and they had an altercation. Some unpleasant photos of the singer surfaced and the rest was history.
Chris Brown finished the community service and as far as we know, is staying out of trouble with the law. I am not saying this excuses his actions, but I believe that he has tried to progress and change his behavior.

Because he is a famous performer, everything he does is analyzed and critiqued. People highlight a huge mistake that Brown made and many people unfortunately will remember him for the abuse charges.
However, the public isn’t the one who is dating or close with Brown. We can form opinions, but at the end of the day, Rihanna is the one who can either forgive or not forgive Chris for his past decisions. With that being said, I don’t think Rihanna and Chris Brown should get back together.
Collaborating together is one thing, but getting close again and dating wouldn’t be a wise choice. In general, I don’t think getting back together with an ex is a smart decision. If you break up with someone, you leave them for a reason. So the question I propose is “can Chris Brown and Rihanna ever be just friends again”?
I think there will always be a romantic connection between the two, or at least a sexual connection, which is evident if you listen to the “Birthday Cake” remix. Even though they had a rough past, Brown and Rihanna still have feelings for each other and seem to be reconciling. Rihanna can date around as much as she wants, but I believe she has a sweet spot for Brown and wouldn’t be able to be just friends with him. And the Chris Brown look-alike in the “We Found Love” video should have clued us all in!
Whatever Rihanna decides to do, I hope that she is satisfied with her choices and continues to make great music, with or without Chris Brown. At the end of the day, both Rihanna and Brown are talented performers and the public needs to focus more on their music and keep the past in the past.
