It comes as no shock or surprise that celebrities get paid for just about every single appearance that they do, but for some reason we were fooled into thinking that the tents of fashion week are exclusive exceptions, terms under which popularity is measured by style and not celebrity – WRONG!

The Hollywood Reporter conducted an investigative report to find out just how much celebs get paid to sit front row at fashion week showings, and although they couldn’t get any solid numbers on record, they did point out a few noteworthy points about the business of fashion week.

One of the few willing to open up about celebs getting the bucks for a 15 min fashion show was retailer and stylist Cameron Silver, who said the following about the celebs:

“They fly them out and put them up and offer a nice Paris or Milan holiday, unless they’re contractually obliged to attend. Others pay them an appearance fee.”

While it isn’t clear just how much these celebs are getting paid to watch 15 minute shows, there are rumors like the one that cites a British publication’s claims that Rihanna was paid $97,500 to attend Karl Lagerfeld’s fall 2012 show in Paris.

Fashionista.com published a fee list in 2010, indicating that Beyonce received up to $100,000 for a front-row perch and pegging Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian in the $50,000 range.

Maybe that would explain why celebs like Nicki and Kanye dominate appearances at NYFW and then vanish again.
