Welcome to the wonderful weekend!

If your week is anything like ours, we know that you are happy for two days of relaxation. But don’t spend the whole weekend being a couch potato, we have got some really cool things for you to do in Vancouver in this weekend’s installment of Dollars & Sense.

Visit The Capilano Suspension Bridge
Scottish engineer George Mackay extended a rope and plank bridge 137m (450ft) over the Capilano River in 1889 with the help of two men and a team of horses. Natives called it ‘the laughing bridge’ because of the noise it made in the wind. In 1903 the rope was replaced with steel cables, and the bridge soon became a tourist magnet. It’s perfectly safe, but if you’re scared of heights or don’t enjoy the sensation of walking on jelly-legs 70m (230ft) above a raging torrent, bear in mind it doesn’t take many people to make the bridge sway quite alarmingly. The admission price includes a pedestrian historical exhibit, totem poles, and the chance to chat with native carvers. On the other side of the bridge there is an interpretative centre, attractive trails and walkways. The highlight is the Treetops Adventure, an elevated platform that leads you through a series of trees 33m (100ft) above the forest floor. There’s also a restaurant, café and souvenir shop.

View Art At Centre A

A not-for-profit gallery dedicated to Asian art, Centre A is far edgier than the city’s commercial equivalent, Art Beatus. After moving into its expansive new space, Centre A became one of the most dynamic art spaces in Vancouver. Located between Chinatown and a decrepit stretch of Hastings Street, Centre A engages with both Asian heritage and raw urban realities. There is also an extensive library and monthly screenings are projected on the walls.

Financial Tip OF The Day

Carpool As Much As You Can

Carpooling is good for both the driver and the passengers.  As  a driver, your gas expenses are now shared by more people and as a passenger it is cheaper and possibly faster to get to your destination if you are sharing your expense with other people.  Besides, it’s also good for the environment.
