A domestic dispute turned deadly in Ohio, as Lake Township police shot and killed a gunman after he murdered his ex-girlfriend and their 3-year-old child late Tuesday night in an incident in which two other people were also wounded.

According to Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer, the 26-year-old woman and the child were pronounced dead at the scene after gunshots were initially reported in the area of the Eastpointe on the Mall complex about 9:30 p.m.
As reported by the Toledoblade:
When police arrived at the scene, an adult male was armed and outside a building on Laketon Terrace.
“The officers engaged with what was believed to be the suspect, shot and killed the suspect who was already wounded,” Chief Hummer said.
The chief said through the investigation, authorities learned that the shooting incident began in a building off Lakepointe Drive. He did not say from which complex the initial call to police came.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and Northwood and Perrysburg police departments assisted at the scene.
The identities of the surviving victims and their conditions were not released, as police are still piecing together what happened leading up to the shootings.
