The lives of six teenagers, ages 14-19, were taken in a car crash in Northern Ohio. Two surviving teens smashed a rear window and wiggled their way out of the worst car ride imaginable.

According to police, the driver of a Honda Passport hit a guardrail and the vehicle flipped into a pond. The car was submerged under water within minutes.

Five of the victims were reportedly trapped within the vehicle, a sixth was thrown from the vehicle and another was found underneath the car once it was taken out of the pond.

“I can’t believe you’re gone. I miss you so much,” wrote Mariah Bryant, 12, on a stuffed bear at the scene of the crash in memory of her brother, Daylan Ray, 15.

Deanna Behner, mother of 15-year-old Kirklan Behner, reportedly told media outlets that her son and his friends were extremely close. Kirklan is amongst the deceased. Authorities were unsuccessful rescuing the teen as they tried for hours to free him from the wreckage.

State Highway Patrol, Lt. Brain Holt said “We will not be speculating on alcohol and/or drug useage pending toxicology reports.”

Investigators are focusing on the speed of the car during the crash, as it plays a key factor in determining the cause of the crash.

Family and friends are left with unanswered questions as to where the teens were going and why.

“All I know is my baby is gone,” said Derrick Ray, father of Daylan, followed by his account of his son’s desire to play high school football.

The rescue team was determined to save the lives of the submerged teens in the crash. Despite the cold temperature of the water, the team stopped at nothing to retrieve the bodies.

Warren Fire Department Captain, Bill Monread said, “Being a cold water rescue situation, cold water extends life. We knew we had a chance; even being in there a while.”

Two of the teens, both 15-years-old, were brought to St. Joseph Health Center in full cardiac arrest and treated for hypothermic drowning trauma, but later on pronounced dead.

Brian Henry, 18, and Ashewe Lewis, 15, are the survivors of the crash. They were treated for bruising and later on released from hospital care.

Counseling has been provided for those affected by the crash.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the lives lost.
