The Fast & Furious movie franchise has some serious fans, man! I attended a screening for the much-anticipated latest installment Fast & Furious 6 and the experience felt more like a live stage show. Audience members were fully a part of the high-octane action even before it began – clapping, laughing, ‘whooping’ – and who can blame them?

Fast 6, as expected, is jam-packed with jaw-dropping stunts, eye candy for everyone (ladies, if Paul Walker or Tyrese aren’t enough for you to see this movie, I don’t know what is) and of course spectacular vehicular action. There’s even a tank and a military jet plane thrown in for good measure in case the plethora of hot, pimped out power-rides isn’t your thing.

At the start of the film we find our gang of once rugged, working class bad-boys now scattered throughout various international locales, enjoying the high life and the benefits of that $100 mil they stole in Fast 5. But it’s not long before our favorite speed-demons are reunited and back in the driver’s seat to cause a lot more mayhem.

Here’s why: DSS agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), who you may remember as the man who pursued them through Rio last time around, is now turning to his former nemesis, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), for help. A renegade Special Ops soldier and his evil crew are on the loose and ready to terrorize the world through vehicular warfare (can you tell I love the word vehicular?). Of course, only one team has the skills to stop them.

How can Dom refuse once he finds out his thought-to-be-dead ex Letty, played by Michelle Rodriguez, is actually alive, well and working with the enemy? Dom wants his woman back, no matter what the cost. The others take to the idea of pardons and the possibility of returning home to the US.

The hunt for the bad guys takes us to London then Spain through a series of exhilarating, high-speed chases and fight scenes. And it’s not just the men who deliver the beatings – our female freewheelers pack a mean punch and prove that sometimes girls just do it better.

Other highlights include the amusing banter between Tej (Ludacris) and playboy Roman (Tyrese) that’s sure to keep you chuckling and Rita Ora’s cameo, which certainly brightens the big screen. And the thrills don’t stop there – during the epilogue the appearance of a British action icon lets fans know he’s about to enter the race in Fast & Furious 7. Can’t wait!
