UPDATE: 1:43 PM EST
It was revealed today that this isn’t the first run in with the law for Patriots’ star Aaron Hernandez. Earlier this month, he was sued for allegedly shooting a man in the face following an altercation at a Miami strip club.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Florida on June 13, just five days before investigators searched the NFL player’s Massachusetts home in connection with a homicide investigation.
According to TMZ:
In the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Hernandez and Alexander S. Bradley went to Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami on February 13, 2013 … and during the outing, the two men got into an argument.
Bradley claims … After the dispute, both men left the club — and got into the same car which was heading to Palm Beach. During the ride, Aaron allegedly aimed his weapon at Bradley … and the gun discharged, striking Bradley in the face.
Bradley claims he suffered major injuries from the gunshot … including the loss of his right eye.
Bradley also claimed he required major surgery to reconstruct his face … which required plates and screws. Bradley also claims he suffered damage to his right hand and arm, which also required surgery.
Bradley demanded more than $100,000, but the case was dismissed four days later. The current murder investigation and the alleged shooting seem to be unrelated.
Police are also reporting that a gun was found at the murder scene near Hernandez’s Massachusetts home.

Officials have searched the North Attleborough home of Patriots football star Aaron Hernandez, after a man described as an “associate” of Hernandez was murdered.
The body of the murdered 27-year-old victim was found in an industrial park not too far from the star’s $1.3 million house. As the search was taking place, two friends of Hernandez made an attempt to leave the home, but were quickly stopped by Massachusetts State Police.
Crime scene investigators then searched the car that the friends were trying to leave in. But Hernandez, on the other hand, was reported to have been very cooperative with officials.
Police were led to his home after they discovered that a rental vehicle with a Rhode Island license plate was near the scene.
Neighbors of Hernandez seemed to be very worried as the search was taking place. One even wore a Patriots jersey while the search was being conducted in support of Hernandez.
One neighbor named Jill Cambridge stated, “I think the kids around here, especially, look up to the Patriots players.”
She also added: “I just hope he’s not involved in this.”
A New England Patriots official also told reporters this:
“I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate that we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation.”
Sheesh! We’ll keep you updated on the latest.
