If you were looking for some James Bond-esque guy with a skinny tie and shiny black shoes, sorry to disappoint you.
This is Ryan Fogle, an American citizen who was working at the American Embassy and who was also supposedly an undercover CIA operative. And according to Russia, was trying to recruit a Russian intelligence officer. Which is a big no-no…so…they detained him.
But it wasn’t just Fogle who was taken into custody. So was his blond, stringy wig, three pairs of sunglasses, and some other cliche spy items like a compass, maps, a knife, and even a large sum of money.
He was eventually released to U.S. officials. Read about the bizarre case here.
