A gay man was shot and killed in the Greenwich Village of NYC last night, after a gunman fired at him in the cheek while he was walking down the street.

According to the NY Post, the Associated Press reports that police say it was an act of a hate crime when the suspect approached the victim, named Marc Carson, and said homophobic slurs to him and his friend.

After the two men tried to go onto a different street, the gunman followed them and eventually pulled out his .38-caliber revolver and shot him in the cheek.

A bouncer at a nearby club told the police:

“It was a quickie. He shot him and he went straight to the ground.”

“Half his body was lying on the sidewalk and half was on the street.”

Authorities say that the incident was “clearly a hate crime”, but fortunately caught the gunman as he ran down the street after shooting Carson.

He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon after confessing to the shooting during questioning with the police.

We pray for the family and friends of Marc Carson and hope that justice is served!
