The government might be closed, but folks can still sign up for Obamacare – If they can get past the log in page.

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, launched yesterday and experienced an unprecedented amount of visitors, causing many glitches.

According to the Washington Post, 2.8 million visitors hopped on their respected state marketplace sites and were greeted with site errors and little to no help from the help center.

However, this wasn’t everyone’s experience. Over a thousand people in Kentucky were able to enroll with a couple of hundred in Washington D.C., Connecticut and Nevada also succeeding.

New York had the most number of visitors, with over two million people on the site Tuesday morning.

President Obama also addressed the importance of the health plan yesterday, calling it “life or death stuff.”

“Tens of thousands of Americans die each year just because they don’t have health insurance. Millions more live with the fear that they’ll go broke if they get sick. And today, we begin to free millions of our fellow Americans from that fear,” he said.

Visitors of the site are expected to have an email address and give personal information to qualify for the best plan for them. After enrolling, the plans will go into effect by the beginning of 2014.

Stephanie Schmalzle, an uninsured 26-year-old actress, isn’t giving up – no matter what.

“I don’t feel that just because I’m young and healthy that I don’t need health insurance,” Schmalzle said. “Anything can happen to anyone.”

And she’s right.
