According to the Palestinian Health ministry, at least 76 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israel’s Gaza offensive. Eight Palestinian family members, including five children, were killed in an early morning strike that destroyed homes in Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The fighting shows no signs of slowing down, as militants kept up rocket attacks on Tel Aviv and other cities in warfare. Israel’s military made no comment on what would be the deadliest strike since the offensive began on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a cargo train used by Mexicans and Central Americans to travel toward the U.S. border derailed in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, leaving about 1,300 immigrants stranded. No injuries were reported. Read about it here…[HuffPost]

And in San Francisco, a 98-year-old woman who has lived in the same apartment for 50 years is fighting her landlord after he evicted her through the Ellis Act. The 1986 Ellis Act is a state law that gives landlords the unconditional right to evict tenants to get out of the rental business. On Wednesday, while sitting on the witness stand, Donald Sterling vowed that he would never sell the Los Angeles Clippers, telling lawyers that he plans to bring forth a lifetime of lawsuits against the league. During his second day of testimony in the trial to determine his wife’s right to make a $2 billion deal to sell the Clippers, he also said this to Shelly Sterling, who tried to approach him in the court room: “Get away from me, you pig!” Yep.
