An 11-year-old girl was killed by a stray bullet at a sleepover on Friday during a rash of weekend gun violence in Chicago.

Nearly two dozen others were wounded on Friday night — a total of 47 were shot over the weekend.

Shamiya Adams was making s’mores inside a South Side home when the bullet, which pierced through the home’s walls, struck her in the head.

According to the Huffington Post, investigators are hunting for the gunman who fired the shot but have made no arrests.

The site reports:

Shamiya’s great-grandmother, Lourene Miller, says Shamiya’s mother, Shaneetha Goodloe, told Shamiya she loved her and kissed her goodbye when she dropped her off at the home a few hours before she was killed.

Miller says police have told the family the girl was shot by someone apparently aiming at a rival in a gang dispute. Police continue to investigate.

We will keep the Adams family in our prayers.
