It’s not cheap being a sneakerhead nowadays. Well, it was never really cheap. But, prices for a decent pair of men’s sneakers are at an astronomical high.

Just think: a major new release will run you fellas anywhere from $150 to $250. (Retros are usually a little more affordable — around the $90 to $120 mark.)

However, if you had the scratch, 2014 was YOUR year. So much heat dropped, week after week. Shit was ridiculous.

Jordan Brand had another killer year. Not just with the retros, either (which always do well). But the 2014 new releases were fyre, too, especially the Jordan Future, which dropped in a number of outstanding colors.

Current number two in the market, adidas, also had a year they could be proud of. They snagged Kanye West from Nike, and they released a number of affordable runners, including the boost (which Kanye co-signed when he wore them in GQ) and the Tubulars, which are just a beautiful shoe.

One more thing should be noted: collaborations were strong this year. Supreme had a number of hot ones with Nike, J.Crew got in the mix with New Balance, and Givenchy H.D.I.C. Riccardo Tisci did a great line with Nike.

It will be tough to top this year.

With that being said, click the gallery below to see the 14 best sneakers of 2014.
