Prince Charles and Princess Diana of England, married in 1981

Prince William is finally engaged! The son of Princess Diana is set to be married in 2011 to Kate Middleton, his girlfriend of eight years. Middleton and William, both 28, met in college.

Prince Charles followed up the engagement with humor stating ‘They’ve been practicing for long enough.’ He said he was thrilled about the engagement.
Middleton described the proposal saying ‘It was very romantic, and it was very personal.’
Prince WIlliam gave her an oval blue sapphire ring, surrounded by diamonds, which was a ring worn by his mother, Princess Diana.

‘This was my way of making sure that my mother didn’t miss out on today,’ Prince William said.
