Everyday, I’m awake at 7am taking care of my mind, body and spirit. I put God first and pray in the morning. I meditate for at least ten minutes to collect my thoughts, and move on to a vigorous workout. Spirit. Mind. Body.

It takes a spiritual toll on a person doing humanitarian work and giving charity speeches to kids that have been incarcerated; or to motivate kids to education; and to sick kids.

It can be draining when people’s spirits attach themselves to you and draw energy from you. You have to find someway to rejuvenate to keep yourself on an even plain.

You need to get your blood pumping and get rid of the old blood. My routine helps me do that.

I think a lot of people feel if they look good on the outside that means they’re healthy and disregard the importance of taking care of the inside.

It’s more than looking good in tight clothing. It’s one thing to appear in great shape and to be smooth for a photo shoot, and it’s another thing to actually be in a healthy state of body and mind.

It makes me think about where we are as a society with our kids and obesity, education, and violence. You start to think how can I be responsible for my child’s well-being and the well-being of society.

It’s one thing to speak to kids, my own included, and then just walk away. But what is done after that? You have to think beyond it all and ask yourself what can I do?

That’s where I’m at right now: being healthy, so i can be a role model and a parent.  As I’ve said before, how can you preach what you’re not sowing? I’m watching what I eat, and what I take into my body and never miss a beat of my vigorous mind and body work out.

On the other hand, I’m also a sugar freak, and I will tell you about my love for cookies, candy, and ice cream.

We all have our vices.
