The Daily Grind Video
CLOSE

Twenty-eight years after the original and months of teasers, previews, banners, posters and hype, the finished Tron: Legacy has finally arrived in its gleefully glowing eye assaulting glory.

Tron: Legacy isn’t shy with its retro roots and GlobalGrind loved the visual and spoken references that point to the original film. The frisbee discs are everywhere, the Recognizers, Solar Sailers and Light Cycles are all there to remind us of the days when our fathers sat us down for the monthly viewing of the original.

This isn’t a spoiler but as you might know the character of Clu is played by a computer animated version of Jeff Bridges. Unfortunately most of us are aware of how the actor has looked and behaved over his career that a digital version can only look like one thing – an imitation.

This was only the visual downside to Legacy, but it is quite frankly one of the best uses of 3-D that we’ve seen in a live action film. To sum it up quickly: it’s damn pretty.

Garrett Hedlund is set to become a new leading man in Hollywood and we will never object to Olivia Wilde wearing spandex. There’s unbelievable action, father and son bonding, a budding love story and pounding soundtrack orchestrated by Daft Punk. It’s a win, win, win, win situation.
