R&B singer Timothy Bloom first started making waves when he released his nude video “Til The End Of Time.”

No one ever thinks nudity can be classy and sensual, but Timothy captured the beauty and essence of being in the flesh. Now, Timothy is on his way down to New Orleans to perform at Essence Music Festival.

GlobalGrind caught up with Timothy and talked to him about his concept of his video, his music and his musical inspirations.

Check out the exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: “Til the End of Time” is an amazing R&B ballad. What was your inspiration behind the song that you sang with V?

Timothy Bloom: My inspiration for the song “Til the End of Time” came from a place where I was at in my life and I wanted to express myself openly and fully to be honest. It came from a place where if I were to die tomorrow what would I leave behind. I have two beautiful kids, they’re like my legacy, that’s where it basically stemmed from.

Who came up with the concept of the video? Which is you and V standing nude face-to-face embracing each other in a totally sensual way.

I came up with the concept, it was me. I just felt like for that song the video had to be really simple, it had to be raw, it had to be very rare and impactful as well too, something that was going to have a shock value to it.

Where there any awkward moments when you guys were filming the video?

Actually at the beginning there was some delay from me because I wanted to make sure number one, V was comfortable in doing what she was doing. Another part was the people staring at us while we were shooting a 12 hour shoot. It was a 12 hour video shoot so it was a lot of awkward moments, but the thing that really captured those moments was me and V, it was just a oneness that we had between each other. The eye contact really meant a lot and we didn’t care about anything else but the eye contact and the delivery of the song and what it meant to us at that time.

How would you describe your musical style?

I’ve been typecast and put into a box a lot just growing on my musical journey. My influences are from a rock genre. My influences are from an R&B genre or hip-hop or a gospel wave and my music is just an infusion of those things I’ve listened to all my life because I didn’t grow up listening to one type of music, I grew up listening to all types of music. And I’m a musician as well so I like to play all types of music and those things are instilled in me and just to play out those things are in me. It’s just music, it’s not really a genre and it’s just music.

What instruments do you play?

I play guitar, I play the piano, I play the drums, I play the bass. I just started paying the sitar. I played the sitar on the record. I can play any instrument you put in front of me.

Where are you from? Can you just give us a brief synopsis on who Timothy Bloom is?

I’ve been working on my music at an early age, I was born in Texas, my dad was in the military, so we traveled around a whole lot. I grew up around some very diverse different cultures and different people. I’ve been all around the world. I label myself as a gypsy because all we do is travel, I can never stay in one place. It’s been my life forever since I was a kid just traveling around and experiencing different things.

When did you first start doing music for yourself? Where you a young kid when you started having an interest in music or was it in high school?

What was so funny was in high school I was an athlete, I used to play football in high school. I always played the piano and playing the drums and stuff like that, I was doing that because I was in my dad’s church playing music. But the chain of events that happened for me is when I moved to Germany. I went out to Germany and started performing out there and doing music out there. I was actually in a group, I was in a boy band, then after that I was like, ‘I wanna be a musician, I wanna sing, I wanna write, I want to do all those things.’ I was 17 when I made that move.

If you were sent to a deserted island and you could only bring three albums with you what three albums would you bring?

I would bring a Beethoven classical album. I’d bring Lauryn Hill with me and Jeff Buckley.

Is there anybody that you would love to collaborate with musically that maybe you haven’t collaborated with yet?

That’s a great question because this is where I get stunned a little bit because I want to work with everybody. But if there was a preference I would want to work with if he was still alive, I would want to work with Jeff Buckley. I would want to work with Beyonce. I would want to work with Tim McGraw, people like that who really have a real influence on the musical industry right now. From country to R&B, to rock to hip-hop, jazz, everybody.

When can we expect an album from you?

Later on this year. We haven’t really set a date yet, but definitely sometime this year. There are some things in the works, so definitely later on this year. The album is called In Full Bloom.

Are you working on any upcoming projects besides your album?

The last project that I did work on was with Chris Brown, I did something with him. But right now the label has been really solely trying to finish up this record and turn it in, so I’ve been working on my stuff. Usually I’m recording and doing stuff every single day so if something fit for someone that is music I’ll send it out, but solely everything has been trying to finish up In Full Bloom.
