Leslie Mann may be one of the stars of the new comedy The Change-Up, but she’s also been our favorite comedienne in a ton of other films, playing alongside funny guys like Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd.
Now, Leslie hits the big screen to play the sassy, sexy female lead alongside two other guys, Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman.

We spoke with Leslie about her new film, motherhood, being a wife and the fine art of kickboxing!
Leslie may be girly but she sure knows how to hold her own alongside some hilarious frat pack actors!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done since you had a child?
I tried to kickbox once right after I had my first baby and I was so miserable, it was so hard. And I went home and I passed out for three hours because it’s so hard.
Tell us what made you want to get involved in The Change-Up.
Well, I guess the group of people, David Dobkin the director; I love his movies and think he’s really smart. I feel very comfortable with him and believe in him. And then Jason I love so much and Ryan is great, Olivia (Wilde) is so smart and great and it’s just a great group of people.
It looked like a lot of fun.
We did have fun. We shot in Atlanta and it was a really snowy, cold winter, like their first snowstorm in a long time. But, I got to come in and go home. And they were there the entire time, so I think I probably had more fun.

One of the things we noticed about you is in Knocked Up and Funny People you have a way that you’re really, really funny, but it’s almost effortless. You’re also very good in dramatic scenes and we see more of that in this film. Is that something you train for or are just naturally good at, the versatility of doing comedy and being a dramatic actress too?
I don’t know, I studied to be an actress. I think there’s just something off about me. I don’t quite fit in in like a pure dramatic thing, but I still think of myself sometimes as sort of a dramatic actress. The off part combined with what I think about myself, just winds up being that.
This film deals with a woman, mother, a wife who’s going through the woes of marriage in a really kooky situation. Being a mother and a wife, are you able to relate to the character at all?
Yeah, definitely. Absolutely, I think it’s really hard on women to kind of … I know from myself that it’s hard to try to work and try to raise your children and be married and just survive in the world. It’s hard, it’s a lot. I like playing those characters.
Did you always think you wanted to be an actress?
Pretty much. I have a little book that I made in fourth grade that said what do you want to be when you grow up and I answered an actress. And then it said what will you probably be and I said a bus driver. Why would they say what you’ll probably be? That’s not a good thing to say to little kids.
