With the recent “release” of the Nike Air Mag, also known as Marty McFly shoes from Back To The Future II, people have been interested in the shoe that many thought would forever be a prop from the movie.

When Back To The Future II was released in 1989, the movie was set in 2015, which was 30 years in the future. Although they are 4 years early, Nike, with the help of creative director Tinker Hatfield who designed the original shoe, released the shoe to the masses.

The Catch 22? The only way to get a pair is by bidding on eBay!

Many people wondered what went into making such a futuristic shoe at the time of the movie’s release, as well as all of the capabilities, including its “self-lacing” technology.

The shoes are being auctioned off for upwards of $40,000+ so it’s cool to know how the design process went, especially if you plan on dropping a mortgage payment on a pair of shoes.

Luckily, we have the full story of what went into making the Air Mag, as well as a brief video on the jacket that Marty McFly wore in the movie after the break!
