Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her retired Astronaut husband Mark Kelly made it clear that his wife will run for re-election next year.

The dynamic duo sat down with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview that documented Gabby’s courageous journey from the time she was shot on January 8th to now.

It has been 10 months since the tragic shootings in Tucson, Arizona on January 8, 2011 and now the Congresswoman is speaking about it for the first time.

STORY: Gabrielle Giffords In The Hospital: Never Before Seen

Giffords was hosting a ‘Congress on Your Corner’ meet-and-greet event for constituents in Tucson, Arizona the morning of January 8th when shots rang out. Six people were killed by young man Jared Lee Loughner and many others injured, including Giffords who was shot in the head.

When asked about his wife’s recovery and returning to Congress Kelly said:

“Gabby is too tough to let this beat her. She’s getting some help from some very generous members of Congress and her staff and it’s all working pretty well, my job is to make sure that she can recover so she can go back to her career serving her constituents in southern Arizona, so I’m working everyday towards that goal.”

It was an amazing interview and a long road to recovery for the congresswoman. We’re overjoyed to see that she’s back.
