Kayak followed in Lowe’s footsteps after the home improvement retail giant decided to pull advertising from the TLC show All-American Muslim.

Lowe’s, as well as Kayak, has been receiving a slew of backlash after their decision to pull advertising from the show, caving into protests from conservative group Florida Family Association (FFA).

In an apology titled “We Handled This Poorly” Chief marketing officer Hugo Birge said:

“We would not want anyone to think that we caved to hatred and bigotry. I wish I could share some of the emails I’ve received from our team. They are also very unhappy with how I handled this.”

The FFA claims that the show only portrays Muslims who are ordinary people and excludes Islamic believers with alternative agendas.
Birge continued:

“For the record, we didn’t “pull” our ads. Our ads kept running on this program, but we have made the decision not to give TLC more money when the show returns in January.”

Birge went on to say that he watched the first two episodes and thought the show sucked, which was the same sentiment echoed by The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart.
