It’s Monday again and for some, it’s the worst day of the week because the weekend is officially over. But have no fear, because GlobalGrind has got your back, with a few things to spice up your day.

In today’s installment of Dollars & Sense we have a few things to do in the capital of Texas for no money at all. Enjoy!

Visit The Texas State Capitol:

The Texas State Legislature meets only once every two years, so if the cavernous building seems oddly deserted, the legislature is probably not in session. Considered one of the nation’s most distinguished state buildings, the Texas State Capitol, with its strong red granite facade and Renaissance Revival architectural style, sits regally on a hill overlooking Congress Avenue.

Largest of all state capitols and only second in size to the National Capitol in Washington, D.C., the Texas State Capitol anchors the north end of downtown, just four blocks south of the University of Texas at Austin campus. Free tours of the capitol building cover Texas history, fun facts about the 17 monuments on the 22-acre, park-like grounds, and information about the Texas legislature, or take the self-guided tour to explore at your own pace.

Visit The Guys At Nice Kicks

Sneaker lovers nationwide are familiar with the footwear oriented blog Nicekicks.com. Known for being one of the most up to date websites for the sneaker culture, the website decided to venture into the retail world and open its own free standing shop in Austin, Texas. Check out the museum like shop with its chandeliers and circular display cases for each of its sneakers. The store is known for having limited edition and highly sought after sneakers. The shoes obviously aren’t free but if the feeling moves you, definitely pick up one of the shoes or t-shirts that the store sells. Say hello to Matt, Greg and the rest of the staff while you are there.

Financial Tip Of The Day:

Use Your Credit Card

We know that this does not sound like a financial tip, however this is actually good for your credit. Use your card sparingly and pay your bills on time to boost your credit score. Inactivity on your credit card doesn’t help you to do anything other than spend more cash and less on your card, and sometimes banks will even shut down your card due to inactivity. So in order to help keep your credit score up, use your card.
