President Barack Obama sat down with NBC’s Matt Lauer to speak his mind minutes before Super Bowl XLVI. In an interview scheduled to air later tonight, Obama discussed everything from the building tension between Israel and Iran, to who was going to win the big game.

Obama told Lauer that he thinks he deserves a second term saying:

“We’ve made progress. The key right now is to just make sure we don’t start turning in a new direction that could throw that progress off.”

Back in 2008 when Obama first sat down with Lauer, he said that if progress wasn’t made after his first year he would be a one term President:

“I’ve got four years. A year from now I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress, but there’s going to be some pain out there.

If I don’t have this done in three years, than this is going to be a one-term proposition.”

The Republican hopefuls for President have been criticizing Barack, saying that he hasn’t met his criteria for change that he promised.

Obama disagrees saying, “I deserve a second term,” he said. “But we’re not done.”
