Could this be retaliation for Trayvon Martin?

Sanford police say one of their empty police cruisers was lit up in a hail of bullets while parked outside the Retreat at Twin Lakes where Trayvon was killed more than 40 days ago.

According to Clickorlando.com, Sgt. Dave Morgenstern said police responded to callers after they said they heard gunshots in the area.

Police said no one was inside the cruiser, but gunfire knocked out at least one window on the car. Witnesses said they heard six shots; at least two bullets struck the patrol car.

Police removed the car from the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.

On Monday, a group of students calling themselves the Dream Defenders marched to the Sanford police station.

Six of the demonstrators wore hooded sweatshirts, like Martin did the night he was shot, as they blocked the department’s main entrance; others linked arms, sang and chanted as they stood facing the building.

The demonstration closed the Police Department headquarters, and City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr. and Acting Police Chief Darren Scott met with leaders of the student group and community leaders.

17-year-old Trayvon was shot and killed by neighborhood watchman, 28-year-old George Zimmerman. Trayvon was returning from a local 7-Eleven after buying a bag of Skittles and iced tea.

He was then spotted by Zimmerman while returning to his father’s girlfriend’s home inside their gated community. Zimmerman called 911, explaining that Trayvon, who was wearing a hoodie at the time, a pair of blue jeans, and red/white sneakers, looked suspicious.

Zimmerman pursued Trayvon even after he was told not to by the 911 dispatcher.

When Zimmerman approached Trayvon, the two got into a scuffle, resulting in Trayvon taking a bullet to the chest at point blank range.

Zimmerman claimed that he shot Trayvon on grounds of self-defense, although Trayvon was unarmed.

Since the murder of Trayvon, the entire nation has expressed outrage.

George Zimmerman has not been arrested yet as more evidence comes forward proving that his claims of self-defense were false.
