The curious case of Chavis Carter continues, as his family has hired an attorney from the famed Johnnie Cochran law firm.

STORY: Jonesboro Police Release Info On The Gun Used In The Chavis Carter Shooting!

According to WREG News, Chavis’ mother Teresa Carter grew tired of the police not giving her any information on her son’s suspicious death – so she hired a lawyer.

From day one Carter’s mother didn’t believe her son killed himself as she has stated that he was left-handed so how can he shoot himself in the right temple.

Anne Carter Winters, Chavis’ grandmother, says she remembers the last time she spoke to her grandson, saying:

“He said I miss you and I love you and I’ll see you soon grand-mamma.”

The next time she saw Chavis, it was in a coffin.

On July 28th, Carter was picked up by police in Jonesboro, Arkansas and after they discovered he had a warrant against him, officers searched Chavis, handcuffed him behind his back, and put him in a squad car.

Moments later, he was dead and police say it was suicide.

Teresa said:

“I can’t get it together. I still can’t put the story together it just don’t add up.”

Carter says police won’t tell her anything, so she hired an attorney from the famed Johnnie Cochran law firm:

“I need somebody to help me get some answers and find out what really happened to my son.”

Jonesboro police are under pressure from a community huddled around this family and are not allowed to release information to anyone due to the ongoing investigation.

The two officers who were involved in the arrest are on administrative leave.
