Over the weekend, Obama spent two days campaigning in Florida to reach Independent voters. One of his stops on tour was the Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce, where he chatted with Scott Van Duzer, the owner of the pizza shop and a registered Republican.

Overzealous with excitement, Duzer graciously thanked and bear-hugged the President.

He instantly became an Internet sensation, so you would think that with all the buzz around his shop and free publicity, Floridians would be flocking to grab one of Duzer’s pies and meet the famous bear hugger, right? Well, that’s not exactly what’s happening. Locals are actually boycotting the pizza shop instead.

According to POLITICO, Duzer said:

“People are saying a lot of bad things and boycotting my restaurant. There’s no middle line anymore, and that’s exactly what’s wrong with our country right now.”

Florida is a crucial swing-state that Obama needs to fight for in order to secure his re-election. In 2008, Obama was able to win it by focusing on swing areas like Jackson. However, this year it looks like he’ll have his work cut out for him if conservatives are willing to stoop this low.
