Tis’ the season and it’s time to indulge in the gift of giving and Meek Mill is doing just that!

The MMG rapper is giving back to his local community after recently being informed that his alma mater is set for closure this year.

Meek is dishing out $10,000 to Strawberry Mansion High School, and also giving up his sponsered Puma shoes to the school’s basketball team.

All Hip Hop reports:

Meek’s move to donate to the local schools comes after Superintendent William R. Hite Jr. announced that the school district was looking to close over 37 schools in the Philadelphia area, forcing kids to commute further distances and learn in larger classrooms.

While Hite Jr. expects the move to make Philly schools more competitive, safer and better run, Meek thinks the move will be bad for his local community, including his own school Strawberry Mansion set for closure.

On his Twitter Meek responded with:

Thankfully Meek Mill isn’t just talking about the issue but also doing something about it!

We hope his contribution make a difference and encourages other to do the same.
