When Meagan Good first came onto acting scene, she was just a toddler starring in television commercials, but now she’s transcending barriers as Deception’s Joanna Locasto. Meagan is soon to be recognized for her epicness as NBC’s first black female lead in over 30 years.

STORY: Meagan Good Talks Celibacy, Marriage & Finding Herself

Meagan stars as San Francisco Police Officer Joanna, who is hired by the FBI to infiltrate the wealthy family she grew up in as the maid’s daughter, and solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was her childhood best friend.

But it can never be that simple. The plot sees a series of twists and turns as Joanna gets deeper into her past and entangles it with her present.

We had the opportunity to chat with Meagan, and she spilled a bit about the series in an exclusive interview sponsered by Deception on NBC:

I am one of the first black female leads on NBC in 30 years on the new show “Deception,” and it is a blessing. The show is amazing. On the show, my mother was a live-in nanny for a rich family like the Hiltons. And there was a daughter within the family that was the same age as me who I grew up with, and she kind of shaped a lot of views in my life.

Basically we were each other’s everything as we grew up, but around 17-18, we ended up having this really bad falling out. My mom and I moved away to San Francisco. I became a member of the San Francisco Police Department and she grew up to be a celebutante, and the show opens with her being murdered.

I get recruited by the FBI to go back in and infiltrate the family that raised me that I haven’t seen in 10 years. It is really crazy and kind of scandalous. My partner at the FBI is someone I had relations with and we start to find out all these different things in the family. There all these things going on that are off in the family as we try to figure out who amongst them would want to kill her.

Sounds like a series we can’t wait to sink our drama-loving teeth in! Check out the trailer above to get a look at what to expect with NBC’s Deception, that airs Mondays at 10/9c.
