Mark Zuckerberg is pulling out the big ones for his latest Facebook re-vamp. The Facebook CEO held a press preview similar to those that Apple holds to release new products, to explain the new changes that Facebook will be rolling out as soon as right now. Yes, this second.

The first thing on their list was making everything bigger and better! The press conference kicked off at 1 p.m. with Mark in his infamous hoodie, who introduced an overview for the announcements to come, broken up into 3-sub categories:

  • – Bigger Images
  • – Multiple Feeds
  • – Mobile Consistency

Which means users can expect rich stories, a choice of different feeds and a consistent view of the site across mobile, desktop and tablet platforms.

The new News Feed represents the first major overhaul of Facebook’s core service since the launch of Facebook Timeline at the end of 2011.

The re-design seems almost as if Facebook took on the design of Google+ and Instagram to incorporate a feed primarily based on photos. The press release details:

– All Friends – a feed that shows you everything your friends are sharing

– Photos – a feed with nothing but photos from your friends and the Pages you like

– Music – a feed with posts about the music you listen to

– Following – a feed with the latest news from the Pages you like and the people you follow.

Facebook says they will be rolling out the new product slowly and testing along the way. You can check out the new design here and sign up to be on the top of the list for the beta rollout of the re-design.

“And that’s that.”
