Oprah Winfrey had a Pretty Woman experience in Switzerland while shopping…and it wasn’t because she was dressed like a hooker a la Julia Roberts.
While attending the wedding of longtime friend Tina Turner, a shop assistant in Zurich refused to show O a handbag because it was “too expensive” for her.
Too expensive for the world’s richest woman, huh?
Forbes magazine estimated that Winfrey earned $77 million for the year. And so…the Swiss did the only thing they could do. Apologize.
A spokeswoman for the Swiss tourism office, Daniela Baer, told The Associated Press on Friday “we are very sorry for what happened to her. The tourism office also posted an apology on Twitter, saying, “this person acted terribly wrong.”
The Swiss must be living in the Twilight Zone or something. You don’t know Oprah and you’re racist? Not a good combo.
