Police investigating the NYPD shooting that left a 14-year-old dead in the Bronx have made a surprising discovery about the gun he was allegedly firing.

It came all the way from Kentucky. But Shaaliver Douse didn’t go there to purchase it.

In fact, the original owner bought the gun before Shaaliver was even born. Brian Quigley purchased the 9 mm Astra semi-automatic pistol from T&J’s Sporting Goods in Louisville, Kentucky 16 years ago. He then sold it in 1997 to cover his rent. But he couldn’t imagine it would end up in New York City… and in a shootout at that.

“That gun was a piece of s—,” said Brian Quigley, 35, who was stunned to discover his old weapon was involved in a deadly gunfight.

“That’s crazy,” Quigley told The News at his Evansville, Ind., home. “I can’t believe that gun made it all the way out there.”

Quigley isn’t sure what happened to the gun after he gave it to a roommate (who he said ran in a tough crowd) for rent. But police say the weapon was never reported stolen, and they still aren’t sure how it made the journey north.

But one thing is clear – guns aren’t made in the hood. Just a reminder to those advocating for looser gun control laws in states far away from the Bronx neighborhood where Shaaliver lived.
