This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nas’ classic debut album Illmatic, which put him on the map as one of our generation’s greatest MCs.
Hailing from New York and using the reality of his upbringing and experiences as influences for his music, Nas has always been known to push the envelope in his musical content and at times with his fashion choices, most notably when both he and former wife Kelis showed up to the 2008 Grammys rocking outfits with the controversial phrase “Nigger” written across the front and back.
Now at 40-years-old, Nas has grown into a man who not only continues to push the hip-hop culture forward, but also raises the bar on fulfilling his philanthropic duties.
