A 29-year-old teacher from Polk County, Florida was arrested for having a relationship with a 17-year-old student.
According to The Tampa Tribune, Jennifer Christine Fitcher engaged in a sexual relationship with the teen for four months. During the rendezvous, she ended up pregnant and had an abortion. The teen’s mother suspected something was going on with her son when he didn’t come home one night. After going through his phone and finding texts about an age difference, she confronted her son about the relationship.
The teen told detectives he and the teacher met for sex three times in the parking lot of a Lakeland apartment complex and three times at a location off New Tampa Highway. He also said they had sex four times outside the city in Polk and Hillsborough, and those incidents are under investigation in those counties, Lakeland police said.
Fitcher even approached the teen’s mother, claiming she was in love with him. Police have charged the teacher with six counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. Fitcher says she has no regrets.
If the irony wasn’t obvious, an Orlando atheist was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after attacking his roommate when he mistook him for Jesus Christ.
According to the Huffington Post, Gustav Potthoff attacked his roommate Raymond Hernandez with a glass cup and butter knife. Potthoff told police he thought Hernandez was Jesus, so he had to kill him. He also pleaded with the court for an atheist lawyer because he needed to be represented “by his own kind.”
“It’s just my human rights and everything else,” Potthoff told the court, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I’m allowed to be with someone of my own kind.”
The judge told Potthoff, who is reportedly indigent, that if he wanted an atheist attorney, it would be on his own dime.
The suspect changed his story several times during questioning. He is currently in Orange County Jail.
