Designing duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the faces behind Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana, have been found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to a reduced 18-month jail sentence by a Milan court on Wednesday.

The decision comes after the pair appealed the initial conviction given to them last year for allegedly hiding hundreds of millions of euros from Italian tax authorities by selling their brand to a German holding company in order to avoid paying royalties of about $1.38 billion back in June.

Dolce & Gabbana have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, and the pair initially received 20 months in prison by the lower court, which imposed a fine of up to $13.865 million.

The pair’s lawyers have said they will appeal the new conviction to a higher court.

We’ll see what happens as the case continues to develop.
