There comes a time when you have to step out on your own and hold it down for you and yours.
That’s exactly what Shia Douglas is doing. You might know her as Ashanti‘s little sister, but she’s all grown up now and doing the damn thing. The beautiful 25-year-old is out here promoting her clothing brand, Dymes Only.
Shia is coming out of her sister’s shadow, recently throwing a star-studded party with Vibe Vixen to help promote Dymes Only.
Earlier this year, she told Necole Bitchie:
“I feel like I have to work twice as hard to be out of her shadow. Like a lot of people don’t know that I went to school for marketing. I graduated. I got my degree. A lot of people don’t know that. I’ve interned since I was 15 years old at ‘Coogi.’ I interned at FUBU. I interned with a lot of different clothing companies and it just feels so surreal to have my own [clothing line] out.”
So now with ten years in the game, Shia isn’t looking for any handouts, she’s doing everything herself and she knows damn well she’ll have to earn every drop of respect.
