Corey Morgan is one of three men who have been charged in the murder of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee. During his court hearing, horrific details surrounding the young boy’s final hours were revealed.

Prosecutors gave a grim description of the moments that led up to Lee’s death, who they believe was targeted after Morgan’s 13-year-old brother, Tracy, was murdered in a gang-related feud.

ABC News reports, “Shortly after the shooting, [Morgan] stated that since his brother was killed and his mama shot, he was going to kill grandmas, mamas, kids and all,” prosecutors said. “After that day, [Morgan] and two others went out daily armed with guns, looking to retaliate.

Before he was shot and killed, Lee was at a Chicago playground, where police say he was lured into an alley.

Prosecutors revealed witnesses’ accounts that allegedly place the three suspects in the park at different times while Lee was in the play lot, swinging in a swing set with his basketball down next to him. At one point, Morgan and one of the other men drove away in a black SUV while the third suspect stayed in the park, according to the prosecutor. The man even picked up and dribbled Lee’s basketball — the same one later found near the boy’s body.

The man and the young boy allegedly walked into the alley, followed by the Black SUV. Moments later, Lee was shot multiple times, according to nearby witnesses who heard the gunshots.

Autopsy reports say Lee suffered numerous gunshots to the body, as he was shot in the head at close range and also took a bullet to his right hand, which shows he tried to block the gunfire.

Prosecutors asked that Morgan be given a life sentence. For more details on this horrific tragedy, click here.
