Sinead O’Connor, the 48-year-old Irish singer who stole hearts around the world with her ’90s hit “Nothing Compares 2U,” posted on Facebook that she had overdosed in a hotel room. This prompted thousands of fans to worry, with some even calling police.

The mother of four shared an anguished message about being abandoned, the victim of cruelty at the hands of her family and no one caring whether she lived or died.

O’Connor, who suffers from mental illness, has been open about her struggles with manic depression in the past, telling Sky’s Entertainment Week: “When you admit that you are anything that could be mistakenly, or otherwise, perceived as ‘mentally ill’ you know that you are going to get treated like dirt so you don’t go tell anybody and that’s why people die.”

The singer was found safe in an unidentified hotel.

See O’Connor’s full message below. We wish her the best.
