A man in Arizona was shot in the chest by his wife after she accidentally thought that he was a robber trying to break into her car.
The 34-year-old woman, named Melisah Havens, called the police after she shot a bullet into her husband’s chest, where they arrested her on the scene.
According to AZ Family, her husband is in critical, but stable, condition. He was reported to be saying “help me, help me” as Havens was standing over him with the gun.
Sheriff Paul Babeu told the site:
“Melisah told detectives she shot her husband because she thought he was going to burglarize her vehicle,” Sheriff Paul Babeu said. “She also said that he had taken her keys and was going to get milk. Melisah declined to provide any additional information after making these statements.”
The husband is currently unable to speak right now due to his condition, but the detectives plan to investigate and interview him once he is able to.
The couple also shares three children together of ages 12, 10, and 2, who were all inside the home at the time of the incident.
